Andrea Colletti 2/2/13 Dr. Cecelia Steger Eng W 001 MA1 Quite often, incoming freshmen do not realize that doing well in college requires much more work than they thought. I, Andrea Colletti, feel that I bring excellent skills that will help me succeed at Nassau Community College. We will write a custom essay sample on Racism on Long Island or any similar topic only for you Order Now I have over ten years work experience at my current company, Travel Impressions. Over the past ten years I have gained great customer service skills, geography product knowledge, hotel operations, marketing, and sales expertise. As a mature 29 year old full time employee, I will most definitely take college seriously. If you ask anyone who knows me, they will say that I am one of the most honest and dedicated person they know. I have longed to attend college for such a long time, but I kept pushing it to the side due to my busy work schedule. I am at the point in my life where I feel that I am ready to attend college, and ready to attain my goals. Although I am very lucky to have found my career, there will always be promotional opportunities in which I will need a degree. My company had an excellent job posting that I was very interested in, and I was well qualified for. Unfortunately the posting required a Bachelors degree which stopped me from applying. I know that by getting my degree, I will succeed and grow further in my career as an Iberostar Accoun Manager. In my current position, I handle the sales, product and marketing for Iberostar Hotels Resorts which are located throughout Mexico, Caribbean, and Brazil. I am so proud of myself for attending college and succeeding my goals. I look forward to a bright future with all of my knowledge that I will gain at Nassau Community College. When I attended high school at Kellenberg Memorial, I did not take it seriously. My high school was very strict and did not give students the opportunity to act as individuals. I was so upset that I had to wear a hideous uniform while my friends that attended public school got to wear beautiful trendy clothing. I was not sure what I wanted to do when I grew up, and had no life goals. I am sure this is how most high school graduates feel at some point. During the eleven years at my company, I matured and gained a new respect for learning new things. I love to keep my mind stimulated and travel the world. I live by the motto â€Å"Travel is life’s most rich gift. I enjoy traveling all over the Caribbean and Mexico, and thanks to my job I have had the opportunity to see many beautiful places. I enjoy learning about other cultures. I look forward to coming to class each day because I leave with gained knowledge. There is nothing more rich then the gift of knowledge. My future goal is to graduate Nassau Community with my Associates Degree in Business Marketing , and complete my Bachelors Degree in Business at Farmingdale State University. I’ve learned that you can reach any goal in life as long as you stick to it and do not give up. How to cite Racism on Long Island, Essay examples

Character Analysis - Lord of the flies by William Golding

Character Analysis - Lord of the flies by William Golding The novel "Lord of the Flies", written by William Golding in 1954, is a breathtakingly accurate account of what can happen to human morality when all rules and civilization are removed. In this Specialist Study I will explore the character differences between the two 'groups' on the island.Ralph, the first boy we meet in the novel, is allocated as the "chief" of the boys, and he develops a close relationship with Piggy, a boy who gained his name due to his weight. Piggy is immediately recognized as the voice of the adult world, and is terrified by the idea of having no grown-ups to take charge. He straight away tries to make sense of their chaotic situation,."..I expect we'll want to know all their names...and make a list. We ought to have a meeting..."This underscores Piggy's reliance on law and order, and shows his desperation for his, and the other boys, well-being.He made a great sound, and the Lord of the Flies a...When the boy's find the conch shell, Piggy's seizes the opportun ity to use it to find the other boys on the island,.".. we can use this to call the others. Have a meeting..."It is here that we meet the opposing group. When the boys start arriving, a group turn up,."..each boy wore a black cap...their bodies...were hidden by black cloaks..."The fact that the boys are wearing black reinforces the thought that they will be the more ferocious of the makeshift community. They are a choir group, and they all follow the commands of their leader, Merridew. It becomes obvious quite quickly that Jack (Merridew) will not get along with Ralph and Piggy. He ridicules Piggy for his weight and awkwardness, but he feels somewhat threatened by Ralph when he is voted as chief,."..'I ought to be chief,' said Jack with simple arrogance, 'because I'm chapter chorister and...

Interesting Tips How to Write a Masters Thesis

Interesting Tips How to Write a Masters Thesis Interesting Tips How to Write a Masters Thesis When Masters students get the stage of writing a thesis, they need to look for the most interesting tips how to write a master’s thesis. First, the student needs to set their own timetable. The time table marks the time that they should start writing the thesis. This is like a basis of the start of the thesis. Students should not take this for granted because; the start could dictate when the student will start writing. This includes setting the exact time when the student starts doing their research and when the actual writing will start. One of the advantages of getting tips is that the student will be guided on how to go about the steps of research and writing the entire Masters thesis paper. For instance, a student could set three months for research only. It should be noted that during the research period, students do a lot of note taking and downloading of materials from the different sources that they need to apply in their thesis writing. This ensures that the students do not have to go back to the research step when they should actually be writing. Since the writing stage is what consumes much time, students should be careful to spare as much time as they can so as to give the writing step the time it required. This is a sure way of writing a good thesis. This calls for the students attention in creating a to- do list that will guide them through the thesis writing. This will also include the time when the student intends to stop or end their thesis document. The deadline should be reached so that the student is awarded the right mark. There are cases when students fail to submit their thesis documents in time. They risk failing their grade or even getting a mark that they did not even deserve. Using these tips helps students finish their thesis in good time. Another tip while writing a thesis statement is setting milestones and small deadlines for chapters of the thesis. This tip requires that the student have an idea of what they actually want their thesis to contain. As a student, it is always recommended to stick to the deadlines. For example, a chapter that the student had stated should last three weeks should only be three weeks or less. Students should also discuss with their lecturers and supervisors in order to communicate these deadlines. It will also be a good idea since the students will get more tips from the supervisor before doing their Master degree thesis paper. This shows the importance of communication with the supervisor before and during the thesis writing exercise. Our custom thesis writing service is designed to help students with writing Masters thesis projects with the help of academic PhD writers.

Reconstitution against Renunciation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Reconstitution against Renunciation - Essay Example â€Å"Male fashion of the 18th century was less varied than female fashion as it consisted of the same set of garments throughout breeches, waistcoat and just a corpse† (Bender, 2006). What follows are photographs with brief descriptions of eighteenth-century male fashion. It can be seen from the above photos that the waistcoat with a slit at the center back was opened at the bottom end. The front edge of the just a corps was curved slightly, with a narrow torso. Stockings were sometimes worn under the breeches, and the shoes were square-toed, with small buckles. The sleeve cuffs also reached up to the elbow. Curly wigs were worn, but compared with seventeenth-century wigs, these were shorter in length. Gentlemen were expected to always have the following accessories: the tricorn hat, walking sticks and, most importantly, the sword as a status symbol, sticking out from underneath the coat’s slit. As a further status symbol, the slit was necessary for riding a horse.Chang es in eighteenth-century male fashion noticeably become more pronounced, as evidenced by the above photographs. It can be seen that the waistcoat no longer sports the flaring bottom edge, paving the way for the eventual tailcoat, and can be buttoned only at the chest. There are lesser decorations, indicating the advent of the "new simplicity" that originated in England and had, by this time, swept all across Europe (Bender, 2006). Cuffs were smaller, and the wigs changed up to the point when they were altogether done away with.
